Alaska

Unsere letzte Reise nach Alaska lag schon lange zurück. 1978 reisten wir mit schweren Rucksäcken zum Survival Abenteuer im McKinley Nationalpark und zu den Braunbären nach Katmai.

Im August/ September 2015 war es dann soweit. Zusammen mit unserem Sohn Robin ging es noch mal in den hohen Norden.

Diesmal komfortabler im Dodge-Ram Pick-up Camper von Anchorage zum Denali National Park, in die Wrangell Mountains und zur Kenai Peninsula. Danach weiter nach Kodiak Island und als Höhepunkt ein Charterflug von Kodiak über das „ Valley of 10.000 Smokes“ zum Katmai National Park.

Der Camping Platz an der Brooks Lodge sah noch genauso aus wie damals.

Die täglichen Wanderungen im Nieselregen um Bären zu fotografieren wurden dann schon zur Routine. Besonders attraktiv war eine Bärin mit 4 Jungen – zu putzig!

Our last trip to Alaska was in 1978. Back than we travelled with heavy backpacks. Hiking in the McKinley National Park turned out to be a survival experience - Grizzly Bears all over the place and very harsh conditions!

In August/September 2015 we went there again. Up north - together with our son Robin.

This time in a comfortable Dodge Ram Pick-up Camper from Anchorage to Denali National Park, the Wrangell Mountains and onwards to the Kenai Peninsula.

Next stop Kodiak Islands and as a real treat with a chartered plain from Kodiak over the “Valley of 10.000 Smokes” to Katmai National Park.

Every day we hiked in drizzling rain to observe and photograph bears.

One attraction was a female bear with 4 cubs – very cute!
